Self-Isolation, Day 50: Chapter's End
As many of you are likely aware, Alabama has chosen to partially reopen the state, and part of that reopening includes retailers such as the one I work for. I am not going to comment on how I feel about this decision, but I will admit to being extremely anxious about returning to work — especially when we begin opening our shop doors to the public on Saturday. Tomorrow, I return to my workplace to get things set back up and ready for opening, and that means I can no longer call this series “Self-Isolation.”
I will make a wrap-up post for this series in the coming days, but what I can tell you now is that I have so enjoyed making all of these photographs of my daily life, both for all of you and for myself. While this marks the end of me being able to call these pictures “self-isolation photographs,” that does not mean that I will not continue to take photos of my everyday life and share them with you all, just as I have been doing since I took up photography five years ago. I have not yet settled on a name for a new photo series, nor have I determined whether I will continue to share them as daily blog posts, but I promise you, the Polaroids will not stop coming any time soon. I have a few exciting things coming up and ideas floating around in my head, and though I’m anxious about jumping into life’s “new normal,” I am hoping for the best.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported this series — I hope that, wherever you are and whatever you are doing right now, whether it’s continuing to self-isolate, returning to work due to your home state reopening, or continuing to work because you are an essential employee, you and yours are safe and well.
Thank you again for reading and sticking around, and I’ll talk to you all again soon.
